My refuge, my place of peace and serenity lately, is a movie I TIVO'd from IFP called:
How to Cook Your Life
A documentary about Edward Espe Brown, the head chef of Tassahara Zen Mountain Center.

I made my icon from an expression Ed Brown uses in the movie about cooking biscuits at Tassahara.
At first he used a recipe and they didn't come out right. So he would add things like more milk or just water. More butter. Less butter. But they never did come out 'right'. And then he stopped and asked himself, "Right compared to what?" And he thought about the biscuits of his childhood, how they were Pillsbury from the tube. So he decided to try tasting the biscuit of today. And they were delicious; wheaty, flaky and earthy and real. And so he asks that we try to be the biscuits of today.
I keep coming back to this and now watch nearly every day.
Such a lovely movie.
