Watched all of S1 of Nip/Tuck. I have to say I was totally against watching it because it's all about how women and men should look and not at all about accepting how we really are. I could not have been more wrong. Srsly. I'm hardcore loving it.

Sweet Charity scarf is ready to ship, all blocked and pretty.

Had fun with a friend last night watching wacky British comedy. League of Gentlemen is just beyond bizarre. Also, I kinda like it in a really weird way. Just more proof that I'm really an odd duck.

The house is clean.

Read Mel Keegan's Death's Head and desperately want to see it made with Jensen as Kevin and Jared as Stone.

Went out with work folks on Friday to Hamburger Mary's which was SOO expensive. But wildly fun.

Sweet Charity is over 10K. I'm wildly excited. Also, strike to end soon, pls. Need my boys back. 'Specially after the spoilers Jared uttered at Fangoria.

I haven't left the house all day.

I'm pretty okay with that.

I tried to watch Nip/Tuck when it first aired and literally could not make it through the pre-credit sequence (a butt implant). I can watch any kind of monster/horror (of the paranormal kind, not slice'n'dice shit like Hostel) thing you want, because I know it's not going to happen. But realistic medical procedures squick me to death. I know N/T is good just from what everyone says, but I absolutely cannot watch it.

I can see that. It is very in your face. And a lot of the show takes place in the O.R. So there's no real way to avoid it.

So what IS Nip/Tuck all about, if not the misguided self-image thing? I've never been able to catch it or see more than one ep, and it looks fun, but I wonder 'what's there to enjoy?' (apart from Julian McMahon's ass, of course).

Ah yes, that ass is fantastic. But there's so much more. Notions of fidelity and expectations in a relationship. Responsibility: is it connected to dna or love or both or neither? There's a fantastic transgender story line that I loved. I loved how they used the characters to discuss accountability within partnership and how the characters swing around and make mistakes so gloriously. It's fantastic. And the acting is fab and I like the writing and the lighting and cinematography is really nice. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it. Far from it. It made me cry. And get angry and no character is perfect. There's no soapbox character. It's all equal and equally screwed up. Just. So much love for me.
And lots of pretty. Though that's the least interesting thing to me.

Wow, sounds like Supernatural (apart from the transgender). :-D I'll investigate further. Thanks very much for that description.
