Total Bull

Okay, so, most of you on my flist are not Supernatural fans let alone J2/SPN-RPS fans. But some of you may know that SPN fandom runs a big bang challenge much like other fandoms and this year one of the stories was a fabulously coherent and wonderfully nuanced story called Into His Hand" which had Jensen as a career bull rider who is sort of put in charge of the newbie, Jared, for his first year of pro bullriding on the PBR or Pro Bull Riding circuit.

Now I've always been a big fan of cowboy stories, especially with these two who are from Texas and just reek of horse and boots, and this one doesn't disappoint. But this post is not about that, it's more about this: cable carries coverage of the PBR almost full time.

Right now they're running a show that looks at the bulls of the PBR. It's called Total Bull and I just sort of can't change the channel. The challenges, the easy rides and the spectacular crashes. Ah, how I've missed my cowboys. I always wanted to be one when I was little. Butch and Sundance where like my personal heroes and I spent many a happy hour on the back of a horse.

I don't really have a point just that I notice how slash has always and continues to affect my life in positive ways. Also, Cowboy!Jensen and Cowboy!Jared? HOT.

Also? Bulls are kind of porny to look at. All muscle-y and full of moxie.

The guy talking right now? His name is Tater Johnson. TATER. I mean, how cool is that?

gothphyle and I just finished re-watching season one of SPN. Tomorrow, providing Fay doesn't blow us away, we'll start season two. I actually backed into this fandom by reading the RPS. *sigh* I'm a huge J2 fan.

I once wrote a TS story that had Jim as a bullrider. Under the guise of research, several of us attended a PBR event. It so rawked. I never thought of bullriding as sexy until that day. (We finished out the night at a local honky tonk, because, seriously, how can one write a cowboy hook up without hanging out at a honky tonk?)

Fandom. I love it.

I read that! I so loved the Cowboy!Jim! I'm so envious! I'd love to go but I think I might be doomed to go alone. Here in LA there's not much in the way of country stuff. Still, they ride bulls everywhere. If you haven't read that story, by all means, put it on your to read list. It's amazing. And lovely.
Ah yes, fandom...it's a stange and marvelous place.
